Jack Casley

John Casley (born April 27, 1926 in Torquay) was an English professional footballer.

Jack Casley joined Torquay United in June 1947. An injury crisis, including the loss of regular keeper Phil Joslin, left Torquay without a goalkeeper for the match at Plainmoor against Walsall in April 1948 and, although a midfielder, Casley played in goal and helped Torquay to a 3-2 victory, which in turn meant that they would not finish at the foot of the league. Casley never played for Torquay again, in any position, joining Headington United at the end of the season. In 1960, Headington changed their name to Oxford United and Casley was the club's first ever professional. He also scored the new club's first ever hat-trick, but retired after just 19 games.

After retiring as a player he remained with the club and in 2002, by which time he was Chief Scout, was given an award by the club as a reward for his 42 years service.
