Jacek Dehnel

Jacek Dehnel (b. May 1, 1980) in Gdańsk, Poland. Polish poet, writer, translator and painter. Studied at the Warsaw University in the MISH College (Interfacultative Individual Humanistic Studies). Graduated from the Polish Language and Literature Faculty. MT: Larkin polonised. 'The Whitsun Weddings' by Philip Larkin translated by St. Baranczak: problems of the translation. Lives in Warsaw.
His first collection of poems has been the last book recommended by Polish Nobel Prize Laureate, Czesław Miłosz.
Published his poems in various literary magazines, including Kwartalnik Artystyczny, Studium, Przegląd Artystyczno-Literacki, Topos, Tytuł, Undergrunt. He works also for an internet literary portal Nieszuflada [1]
Translates poetry (among others: Osip Mandelshtam, Wystan Hugh Auden, Philip Larkin, George Szirtes, Mary Oliver) and lyrics (for example songs to music by Ástor Piazzolla).
He was awarded with many literary prizes, including Nagroda Kościelskich, 2005 and Paszport Polityki, 2007.
