Greetings. I am a new-page patroller, and a member of WikiProject RPG. I have written a few articles of my own, and look forward to contributing more. I spend most of my time on Wikipedia checking every edit made to any of 'my' articles, and spending a long time on New Page patrol, as well as spending rather a lot of time participating in articles for deletion debates. Leave me a message if you like, I sign in daily unless something major stands in my way. I am also a member of Wikiproject albums, and Wikiproject Dungeons & Dragons, but I am not particuarly active in either at the moment.

In real life, I am an English School pupil, from Ireleth, in Cumbria, England. I am currently 16, and studying for my GCSEs. I enjoy playing pen and paper RPGs, computing, and listening to music. I have a great interest in religion, but not enough knowledge to really contribute to the religious articles of Wikipedia. I would describe myself as passionately atheist, although possibly a worshipper of the Invisible Pink Unicorn, the Flying Spaghetti Monster or Russell's teapot. I have some sympathy towards Buddhism, but a Buddhist life is not for me. I have full respect for people who choose a religion or a belief when they have chosen it themselves, and are willing to defend it and admit that they believe it. What I do not like is when people have either been forced into a religion, or chosen it for the image, or because it was the easiest option. I also do not like people who argue away their religion with 'It is my belief.' Without any reasoning as to why.

[edit] Some things I believe about Wikipedia

  • References are immensely important.
  • Inline citations are brilliant.
  • I feel that infoboxes are a very good thing.
  • I feel that images are a very good thing.
  • I do not like spoiler tags, I think they are invasive, patronising and sometimes lull you into a false sense of security, as there are often plot spoilers elsewhere in the article.
  • I think placing the {{unreferenced}} tag under a heading of 'Sources' or 'References' looks far better than placing it at the top of the article.
  • I like sections and titles, rather than huge blocks of text.
  • I think tables are FAR too complicated.
  • I think the stub, Wikification, cleanup and other systems are a good idea.
  • I think there are a few too many stubs on Wikipedia, but that stubs beat those kind of huge articles with no pictures, sections, infoboxes or anything.
  • I think external links outside of a 'Sources' or 'External links' section are bad.
  • I like the deletion processes, I think it works very well.
  • I hate badly named articles- too many capitals, too few capitals, bad spelling, un-wiki-ish type titles and inappropriate titles for that particular article.

[edit] Best articles

These are my 'best' articles, defined so because they are good articles, featured articles or have had a fact in DYK?

  • Gordon Park - Well on its way to Good Article, just looking for some help before I submit it. Definately seems to be a NPOV issue.

[edit] Better articles

Some of these I have written in collaboration with others, some I have written myself, some I have re-written. I am rather pleased with all of them.

[edit] Dungeons & Dragons

  • Dire animal - This is very long, when writing it, I used it as a stress relief.
  • Hexblade
  • Allip - First article I cleaned up for Wikiproject D&D, isn't great.
  • Couatl

[edit] Others

  • Celestiial - I created this out of annoyance that a one line article about them was speedy deleted, despite the fact I could tell they were notable from googling it.
  • Ooky Spooky - The best album article I have written, and it isn't even released yet!
  • BRAINS! - Better than my bog-standard album articles, certainly!
  • Pro-jekt - First major article I created, I should probably update it. It could do with a cleanup.
  • Askam Railway Station - Lobbed a little bit of history in, I can't see there being any interest from anyone!

[edit] Disclaimer

Of course, I also have numerous redirects I have created and images I have uploaded, along with other articles on my watchlist that warrant no mention here. Far more numerous than any of them, however, are the pages I have tagged, re-written, nominated for deletion or edited in some useful way while on New Page Patrol, then left to evolve without me.

[edit] My templates

I have just realised how easy it is to make these, so I will no doubt be creating many for my own use. Feel free to use them if you want to.

[edit] Awards and recognition

Successful articles
This user helped promote the article Askam and Ireleth to Good status.
This user helped promote the article Voltaire (musician) to Good status.
A fact from the article Gordon Park, which this user significantly expanded, has been featured in the Did you know... section on the Main Page.

Currently aiming for anything else that I may be able to drag up to good article standard, but it is by no means easy on my own. Also considering trying to take Askam and Ireleth all the way to featured. It would also be nice to get some more things on Did you know?, but it is hard to think of anything that I can really write about that is interesting!
