[edit] Target Corporation Draft

Feel free to edit this or make suggestions on this page!

Target Corporation is a retail company that was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1962. It operates both bricks and mortar business and electronic commerce. It is the fifth largest retailer in the United States behind Wal-Mart, The Home Depot, Kroger and Costco as of July 2005,[1] and is ranked 29th on the 2006 Fortune 500[2]. Target attempts to set itself apart from its competitors, Wal-Mart and K-Mart/Sears Grand by offering a more upscale, trend-forward shopping experience. While Target Corporation has managed to skirt the brunt of criticism received by its major competitor, the company has still been scrutinized for its benefits, worker rights, and urban sprawl contributions.

Target Corporation's main soruce of income is its Target Stores division. Nearly 1,500 stores are throughout the country with some in a standard bix-box format and others in unique urban settings, even with multiple floors. Online and in store they sell more gift cards than any other retailer in the United States and is also the third-largest seller of music in the United States.[3]

I meant to include something along the lines of "It operates retail out of both brick and mortar stores and e-commerce" since it is not obvious how they do retail in the current paragraph. 68.226.61.4 19:24, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
