J. Torres

J. Torres is a Canadian comic book writer. His most recent credits include Batman Strikes, Ninja Scroll, and Teen Titans Go! for DC Comics, Love As A Foreign Language for Oni Press, and the Degrassi: Extra Credit series of graphic novels from Simon & Schuster. He also contributes to the Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi show on Cartoon Network and Edgar & Ellen on Nickelodeon.

His various projects have earned nominations for the prestigious Eisner Award (Alison Dare, 2003), Harvey Award (Sidekicks, 2001), and Shuster Award ("Outstanding Canadian Writer" 2004 nominee and 2005 winner).

Other credits include work on Batman, Black Panther, Rugrats, and X-Men comics; chapter books and activity books for Scholastic; and writing for magazines including Kayak, Nickelodeon Magazine, and YTV's Whoa.

Upcoming publications include the graphic novels Lola: A Ghost Story and Dead Goombas for Oni as well as Legion of Super-Heroes for DC's Johnny DC line.

The writer was born in Manila and raised in Montreal where he was educated at McGill University, and he currently resides in Toronto.
