Talk:J-class yacht
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The article on Universal Rule doesn't seem to include mast height as a factor. Instead they have sail area. Also this article doesn't say what the product of the Universal Rule had to be - (R).
As an aside, does anyone know whether KZ-1 was a true J-class? The length and sail area seem about right, but the displacement is about one-third of the boats we have listed here Lisiate 23:16, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
- No, KZ-1 is not a J-class yacht. She was built to exploit design loopholes in the America's Cup rule. She was not built with any reference to or consideration of the J-Class rule Boatman 15:41, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
What about Shamrock I, which the America's Cup website refers to as J-class? Cbaer 14:57, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Only Shamrock V was J-class yacht. Shamrocks I to IV were cutters. Radomil talk 19:02, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
