Jürgen Klute

Jürgen Klute is an Evangelical pastor and the head of the office of social ministry of the Lutheran diocese of Herne. Associated with the Christian Left, he was chosen as the main candidate of the new Electoral Alternative for Labor and Social Justice for the 2005 state election of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany's most populous state and a stronghold of the Social Democratic Party, from which the new party split. He has published several books on the relationship of religion to Social Democracy.
