Ivanjica (born 1972) was a French Thoroughbred racehorse foaled at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Kentucky. A descendant of Nearco, she was sired by Epsom Derby winner Sir Ivor and out of the mare Astuce by the important French sire, Vieux Manoir who in turn was a son of the great French runner Brantome. The colt was named for the town of Ivanjica in the Moravica District of Serbia.
Trained by Alec Head, and ridden by his son Freddy, Ivanjica had outstanding campaigns in 1975 and 1976. After finishing third to Youth in the 1976 Washington, D.C. International, Ivanjica capped off her career by giving owner Jacques Wertheimer the first of his two Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe wins.
Retired to broodmare service, her offspring had limited success in racing.
Ivanjica has the unique distinction of having had her portrait painted by Andy Warhol.
