Ivan the Terrible (Prokofiev)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ivan the Terrible was music written by Sergei Prokofiev to the film directed by Eisenstein.

This is one of the two works born from the collaboration with Eisenstein (the other one was Alexander Nevsky).

Stasevich, the conductor of the film score, later arranged the score into an oratorio version (with narrator) for concert performance. In 1990, Christopher Palmer also arranged a concert version (without narrator).
