Iulian Pop

Iulian Pop (12 March 1880, Buduş, present-day Bistriţa-Năsăud County – ?), a lawyer by profession who had a doctorate in law, became the mayor of Cluj, Romania on 19 January 1919. He was the first ethnic Romanian mayor of Cluj. He remained mayor until 13 April 1923, when he resigned and was succeeded on an interim basis by Aurel Moga.
During his term in office, the Romanian University in Cluj, Upper Dacia was opened, methane gas began to be introduced, the Capitoline Wolf Statue was unveiled, the bridge over the Someş in Michael the Brave Square was built, and massive projects for rebuilding streets and schools were undertaken.
Pop had two brothers, Valer and Ionel.
