[edit] Levi Yitzchok

Hi. I was just doing a bit of Wikify of the article. You may want to add his name here List of rabbis. I would do it but I have no idea where he would fit in. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather 03:40, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] God of Abraham

Itzik18,
I hate to be anglo-centric, but perhaps an english translation is in order here as well?

[edit] Images

Wikipedia is very serious with copyrights. You cannot simply slap a GFDL tag on an image that does not belong to you. Please read carefully the Wikipedia:Copyrights policy. Please feel free to ask me any questions. Other than that, you are doing a really great job! mikka (t) 06:47, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

Also, Wikipedia has a new deletion policy for uploaded images; If they lack source or licensing information they may be deleted after being listed for seven days on Category:Images_with_unknown_source or Category:Images_with_unknown_copyright_status.
See Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion for more information.
So, please add both source and licensing information to all your uploaded images or they will be deleted. You can see a list of your uploaded images at [1]

"fair use" category is deprecated as well. It is impossible to define it correctly in an international encyclopedia. This category is to be used in rare circumsy]tances and under strict rules you didn't follow. Please use only three categories: free, public domain and GFDL. In all cases an indication of the verifiable source is obligatory. mikka (t) 17:38, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:030723 213827-419 rebbe.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:030723 213827-419 rebbe.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Steve block talk 20:27, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Yaakov Meir Shechter.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Yaakov Meir Shechter.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. [edit] About image uploading

Hi,

I noticed all the complaints on your talk page about image uploading. Note that we are not allowed to grab photos we find around the web and upload them to Wikipedia. Everything you see on the Web is copyrighted, and it's against our policies to upload them here except for certain very narrow fair use exceptions.

Thanks - Tempshill 20:05, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rav Moshe Hirsch

Crzrussian wants a source for your claim (which I also believe) that Rav Hirsch wrote the Siddur Vilna. --Daniel575 19:55, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Hey, lookit, a note about me! :) :) - CrazyRussian talk/email 16:53, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

I wish I knew - I didn't see anything in the Siddur about it - I only know from word of mouth. Itzik18 16:56, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

He is your source? - CrazyRussian talk/email 17:07, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
it's the only source i could find online. the fact that he says such mean things about Rabbi Hirsch is proof enough to me that Rabbi Hirsch is an erlicher Yid. Itzik18 17:10, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use images

[edit] Image:MVC-006F.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:MVC-006F.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a free image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 22:27, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edits of Tzniut

Hello, there's an article on Mechitza with a discussion of how high it should be, so I changed the Tzniut article to reflect just a brief summary and a link to the Mechitza article. You might want to take a look at the section discussing proper height, it could probably use some work. Shabbat Shalom! --Shirahadasha 18:20, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Amshinov.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Amshinov.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

[edit] Chaim Joshua Halberstam

What else do you know about R' Chaim Yehoshua Halbershtam? Specifically, there are countless Satmar shuls in Monsey. Which one is his? Also, has he accepted nasius over the 500 or so Chassidim who apparently have asked him to be Rebbe? What's the status of all of that? (I haven't heard of it other than on Wikipedia, which makes it somewhat suspect, but admittedly I'm not baki on Satmar politics.)--Meshulam 03:42, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:030723 202314-179 RebZali1big.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
