ITunes Essentials

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

iTunes Essentials is a sub-division of the music section within the iTunes Store. It contains groupings of music based upon the artist of the music (Artist Essentials), the genre or history of the music (Genres and History) or any other similarities (My Groove). Each grouping of music is essentially a pre-made playlist. These playlists usually contain either 75 or 45 songs equally distributed in three sections. The first section is The Basics: the iTunes Store describes them as "[t]he biggest, best, and most important songs." The second section of each playlist is Next Steps: iTunes says that they are the songs "[w]hen you're ready to move beyond the hits." The last section is Deep Cuts: iTunes says that they are "[c]riminally ignored. Unjustly under-appreciated. Until now." Occasionally, specific Artist Essentials do not have a Deep Cuts section.
