Mount Ithome is a mountain in Messenia, in Greece. As the most defensible point in the territory, it was the center of Messenian resistance during the Second Messenian War in the 6th Century BC, and was selected as the site for the city of Messene when that city was rebuilt by Epaminondas in 369 BC. Also was the center of the Helot revolt in 463BC;
