[edit] Cage

Cages are a common item in Rayman games. They are small and square, and must be destroyed for points or bonuses of some description. They first appeared in the original Rayman, in which they contain Electoons imprisoned by Mister Dark. They returned in Rayman 2: The Great Escape, in which the Robo-Pirates had used them to imprison the Teensies and the Yellow Lums. These cages are marked with skull and crossbones logos. In the Playstation version of that game, they also contain a variety of different unusual creatures, such as Denys and Ludivs. A variety of different cages were constructed once again in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, this time by the Hoodlums, who intended to imprison the Teensies in them for use in target practice. The Hoodlums were too incompetent to actually capture any Teensies, but being perfect gentlemen, the Teensies shut themselves in the cages so that the Hoodlums would not have built them in vain.

[edit] Elixir of Life

The Elixir of Life is a greenish potion owned by the Guardian of the Cave of Bad Dreams. It is stored in a skull. In Rayman 2 it is the only thing that can cure Clark's stomach ache.

[edit] Funky-Board

This board allows Rayman to travel in the Teensie Highway. Additionally, he must use it as a snowboard in The Summit above the Clouds.

[edit] Keg

Created by the Robo-Pirates, Kegs are wooden barrels filled with gunpowder and will explode upon impact, producing enough force to break even powerfully reinforced doors down. Kegs are also capable of flight when exposed to flames.

[edit] Laser Washing Powder

Laser washing powder is a product endorsed by and widely used among Hoodlums. Marketed as "The laser detergent that transforms your clothes into combat fatigues", Laser Washing Powder provides the user with Superpowers. It comes in small, brightly-coloured tins. To activate one of these tins, Rayman simply walks into it. A laser beam comes out of the top, instantly changing his outfit and providing him with a Superpower and a bonus that multiplies all points obtained by two. Laser Washing Powder is frequently dropped by Hoodlums displaying $ signs above their heads.

[edit] Heavy Metal Fist

Found in red tins, the Heavy Metal Fist gives Rayman spiked metal fists that do massive damage to enemies, and, when loaded, can break down reinforced doors. It lasts 13 seconds.

[edit] Lock Jaw

Found in blue tins, the Lock Jaw enables Rayman to launch bear-trap-like claws on chains from his fists. These can be used to grab hold of metal hoops, or to give enemies an electric shock. This is the longest Superpower, lasting for 50 seconds.

[edit] Shock Rocket

Found in orange tins, the Shock Rocket allows Rayman to launch a guided missile from his fist to hit distant targets. The rocket automatically homes in on nearby targets. The minigame Missile Command revolves around the Shock Rocket. This power lasts 7 seconds.

[edit] Throttle Copter

Found in yellow tins, the Throttle Copter provides Rayman with a helmet with a propellor on top, letting him fly. The Throttle Copter wears off after 3 seconds, making it the shortest lasting Superpower. However, in Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge, Rayman can collect Blue Lums to fuel it. During the first use of the Throttle Copter in the Bog of Murk, when the helmet is placed on Rayman's head, the side parts of the helmet stand up, a reference to Mickey Mouse's ears.

[edit] Vortex

Found in green tins, the Vortex grants Rayman the Superpower to fire whirlwinds out of his fists, shrinking Hoodlums and screwing down certain stones and mushrooms. This power lasts 25 seconds, lasting half the time as Lock Jaw.

[edit] Lum

Lums are rounded, winged lights that are responsible for all that exists. They created Polokus, the creator of Rayman's world. Lums come in a variety of different colours and shapes.

[edit] Black Lum

Main article: Hoodlums (Rayman)

These are rather different from the other Lums as they are bad tempered, stupid, and violent, and they resemble flies more than lights. They are created when a Red Lum is scared. Black Lums are of no direct use to Rayman, and in their clothed state they are a direct hindrance. However, they are responsible for a number of items which are useful to Rayman, and part way through Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, Rayman gains the ability to transform Black Lums back into health-giving Red Lums.

[edit] Blue Lum

Blue Lums are rich in oxygen. Each creature is given Blue Lums at birth, and retains them until death. Blue Lums enable Rayman to breathe under water. In Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge, Blue Lums are also used as fuel for the Throttle Copter.

[edit] Green Lum

Green Lums are not really part of the plot, but they are described as being "very special". They serve as checkpoints. If one dies after collecting a Green Lum, one reappears where the Green Lum was when one collected it.

[edit] Purple Lum

Purple Lums are what holds all matter together. Without them nothing would have form. Unlike most Lums, which are orb-shaped, Purple Lums are shaped like hoops. One of Rayman's powers allows him to grab hold of Purple Lums by shooting at them, and use them to swing across gaps.

[edit] Red Lum

Perhaps the most common of all Lums, Red Lums are full of vital energy. Collecting them will restore Rayman's health. Robo-Pirates are very fond of them and often collect them. When Robo-Pirates are destroyed, they usually drop a number of Red Lums. Additionally, it is possible to convert them into Black Lums by either scaring them or having André touch one, although this is not a sensible idea.

[edit] Silver Lum

Silver Lums are very magical and are conjured by fairies. The only person who can use them is Rayman. They provide Rayman with many of his powers.

[edit] Yellow Lum

Yellow Lums are the shards of the Heart of the World, the planet's Primordial core which the Robo-Pirates shattered into a thousand pieces in Rayman 2.

[edit] Super Yellow Lum

Giant, ancient Yellow Lums with broad grins, these count for five Yellow Lums each.

[edit] Magic Orbs and Pedestals

Magic Orbs and Pedestals are found around ancient structures in Rayman 2. They are used to open sealed doorways. When a Magic Orb is placed on a Magic Pedestal of the same colour, the doors open.

Despite being magical by definition, the Magic Orbs are not listed under "Magic Items" in the Rayman 2 manual.

[edit] Matuvu

Matuvus are chameleon-like lizards that whistle when approached, found in Rayman 3. Looking at a Matuvu in first-person view scores points.

[edit] Laser Chair

The Laser Chair was a chair invented by the Pirates for traveling on lasers. Razorbeard also has one, although he doesn't use it on lasers. A laser chair is used by Rayman in the level The Top Of The World.

[edit] Toilet Plunger

Toilet Plungers are used by the Rabbids in Rayman: Raving Rabbids. They are used in a variety of ways, and not just by Rayman. For example, they can be used as a prison escape device, as ammunition for a gun or even to stop people looking in unhinged outhouses.

[edit] Mini-Shoe Car

Similar to the Laser Washing Powder, the Mini-Shoe Car may be dropped by Hoodlums with $ symbols over their heads. When Rayman touches it, he is shrunk down and must drive around in his shoe as if it was a motorcar, and pursue the other shoe. Defeating it (by ramming it in the manner of a bumper car) lets Rayman return to normal size and progress. The Mini-Shoe Car also allows Rayman to investigate areas that are inaccessible when he is taller, to collect Pick-Ups.

[edit] Pick-Up

Pick-Ups are big, glowing jewels scattered by the games developers throughout Rayman 3, purportedly for purely aesthetic reasons, although as they do serve a central role this is probably not the case. Collecting Pick-Ups rewards the player with points, and collecting several in succession activates a combo. Pick-Ups come in three types: small yellow ones, larger red ones, and giant green ones.

[edit] Pigpot

Pigpots are crudely-designed wooden piggy banks used by the Hoodlums for storage. Destroying them wins points. They typically contain Red Lums or Pick-Ups. They also make a pig-like grunting noise when hit.

[edit] Plum

Plums are large, rounded, purple fruits that grow throughout the Glade of Dreams. They are extremely hallucinogenic, which may account for their popularity. Plums also have a number of uses. They can be thrown onto spiked posts or the heads of enemies to provide a safe platform to stand on, or rode across water or lava. The juice of plums is a popular drink.

[edit] Plum Juice

Kept in large, labelled barrels, this drink appears to be quite popular, and is the preferred drink of André, particularly when fermented. Globox is allergic to Plum Juice, but André persistently forces him to drink it. This results in some very strange side effects, including intoxication, flight, the production of purple bubbles, and the ability to swim up waterfalls.

[edit] Power Fist

Power Fists are items used in Rayman 2 to make Rayman's shots more powerful. They resemble golden, clenched fists, and allow Rayman to fire huge balls of energy. Power fists are quite rare. One can be obtained as a reward for completing The Walk of Power.

[edit] Sparadrap

Sparadraps are devices employed by the Robo-Pirates to seal doorways and reinforce bad architecture. There are two varieties. The wooden ones are weak enough to be destroyed by a single shot, but they are also very uncommon. The metal ones are much stronger and can be destroyed only by an explosion. Although Sparadraps are nailed into place, the name is French for "sticking plasters".

[edit] Stone of Thought

Found throughout the Glade of Dreams in Rayman 2, the Stones of Thought are flat, stone slabs that provide a telepathic link to the people who's images are displayed on their surfaces. In most cases, this is Murfy, but in the PlayStation version it is Ly. The Stones of Thought provide advice on progressing.

[edit] Tribelle

Tribelles are elegant lady butterflies who can be found throughout Rayman 3. They are very timid. If Rayman creeps up to one slowly and doesn't startle it, he is rewarded with points, but if he is too noisy, the Tribelle quickly leaves for the psychiatrist and Rayman receives nothing.
