Talk:Itano Circus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Does the Macross Missile Massacre really deserve its own entry? It's only an alternate name for the Itano Circus, after all. --24.114.252.183 19:56, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Actually, Itano Circus is the name for the entire style of dogfights, not just launching an assload of missiles.
Besides, the term Macross Missile Massacre has been around long before the term Itano Circus was widely known.
-- The term "Macross Missile Massacre" does not predate the term "Itano Circus." "Itano Circus" was used in Japan among both fans and industry professionals (as well as particularly avid overseas fans) during the height of Macross's popularity more than two decades ago. (Unlike Macross Missile Massacre, there are citable usages in print by contemporary magazines and books.) By contrast, "Macross Missile Massacre" was coined afterwards overseas, and is used only by a subset of English-speaking fans. (The first citable usage of the term occured online in 1992, a decade after the debut of Macross and Itano Circus's first use in print.) --Egan Loo 03:53, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Error
The Daicon videos are subsequent to the original Macross series: in fact, some of the early GAINAX associates worked as animators for Macross itself. --81.208.36.87 22:40, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
