Itacoatiara is one of the 48 administrative districts in which the city of Niterói, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil is divided.

In it is the Itacoatiara beach, 30 minutes east of the city downtown.

Itacoatira produces a fast and hollow wave. It can handle well swells of up to 4 meters (12 feet) waves, which are usually on the 3 - 6 foot range. Sometimes a huge southeast swell can bring waves of 5 meters (15 feet) but a swell this strong rarely offer surfing conditions.

The place is famous for ideal conditions for the practice of Bodyboarding.
