"It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be" is a duet recorded between R&B/soul singer Aretha Franklin and her goddaughter, Whitney Houston. When released as a single, the song proved that it was not a hit at all, reaching a peak position of #41 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and of #29 on the UK Singles Chart, and thus not making a significant sales impact.
The song became Houston's first release in nearly five years not to make the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, but her next single, "I'm Your Baby Tonight", would return Houston to the coveted number one spot once again.
