It Came from Beneath the Sewers is an episode of the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series. It is the second episode of season 2 (1988). This episode was written by Larry Parr. It is available on DVD in the box set released on April 26, 2005.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) and April O'Neil use the "Crystal Converger" as they are driving around in the Turtle Van in search for the "Three Fragments of the Eye of Zarnov".
Meanwhile in the Technodrome, at this point of the series located in Dimension X, Krang and Shredder uses the high tech equipment inside the Technodrome to locate the Fragment just outside New York City, near where a traveling carnival show has arrived.
The Crystal Converger has led the TMNT and April to the same carnival, but before they can find the Fragment, it's found by two small boys. While April unsuccessfully tries to buy it from them for three United States dollar, the TMNT are mistaken for performers and find themselves entertaining an audience. When April finds the TMNT Michaelangelo gives her more money to buy the Fragment from the small boys. But just then, Shredder and Baxter Stockman arrives and steals the fragment from the boys.
Back at their hideout, Shredder and Baxter Stockman discover another aspect of the fragment's power: as the crystal makes contact with residue from Dimension X on Shredder's boot, the crystal is able to create a mutating spore. Shredder believes that this will enable him to obtain the other two Fragments and defeat the TMNT.
Later in the sewers, the TMNT talk to Splinter how they once again lost the Fragment to Shredder. Suddenly, a giant plant breaks the wall and attacks the TMNT. The TMNT attack defeat the planteasily, and the plant retreats back, deeper into the sewers. The TMNT are convinced that the plant is not from Earth. They believe it came from Dimension X.
At Aprils apartment, April and Irma are drinking coffee when someone knocks on Aprils door. When April looks after, she only finds a letter referring to an address. The letter is said to come from the TMNT. April goes away alone. When April arrives at the address, which is an empty warehouse. When she arrives, she discovers Shredder instead of the TMNT. Shredhead captures April, ties her to a chair and uses Aprils Turtle Com to contact the TMNT and invites them to rescue April, if they dare. The TMNT arrive, disguised as pizza delivery boys, break into the warehouse. When Shredder and Baxter Stockman refuse to open the door, the TMNT kicks it up and attack Shredder and Baxter Stockman by throwing pizzas on them. The real fight erupts, and TMNT rescue April, but Shredder and Baxter Stockman escape. However, the TMNT watch on a TV in the warehouse about the giant plant's destruction of the city. As the plant escape it's way down into the sewer system, the TMNT's home, Splinter tell the TMNT to "start at the root of the problem". The TMNT follow the tracks from the plant, and Michaelangelo is dressed as a female plant decoy to distract the giant plant, as the other TMNT attacks it. Leonardo recalls Splinters word, and uses his katana swords to attack the "root of the plant", causing it do die.
