"It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over" is the second single to be released from the album, Mama Said, by Lenny Kravitz. It was released in May, 1991. The song is a mid-tempo ballad-rock song. Musically, it was inspired by Motown and Earth, Wind & Fire. The horn line at the end, is actually performed by the Phenix Horns from Earth, Wind & Fire. "That song just came out one day, and I knew it had a classic vibe. And I still love that song very much today," Kravitz said in 2000.[1]

"It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over" is the most successful song by Kravitz on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles charts. It reached the top three, peaking at number two. It was blocked to top Billboard Hot 100 by Bryan Adams' single, (Everything I Do) I Do It for You. Kravitz's single was also popular in the UK, where it reached top twenty, peaking at number eleven.

The music video, directed by Jesse Dylan, featured Kravitz and his band performing the song. It also featured a violin orchesta, which performs the main song riff. Different kinds of background lighting colors were featured in the video.
