From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
it@cork is a not-for-profit industry organisation that supports businesses that depend on Information Technology in the Cork region. It provides a forum for businesses that have a key dependency on IT, to share best practices and to network. It also supports the promotion of the region to external investors and works with other regional stakeholders to promote IT related opportunities.
Every year thousands of IT professionals attend the numerous it@cork events and conferences throughout the year. Events cater for all levels within member companies from technical developers, IT Managers, sales personnel through to business managers and industry leaders. The it@cork Annual Conference is now one of Ireland’s premier IT events attracting hundreds of delegates.
In 2006 the network introduced its dedicated blog, which featured the member podcast series. The it@cork blog is also used to podcast presentations from conferences and has become very popular with the IT community.
250 companies are now active members of the network. it@cork looks forward to increasing this number even more in 2007.
it@cork came to prominence in May 2006 when it received a Cease and Desist letter from CMP and O'Reilly Media for using the term Web 2.0 in the name of a mini conference it was holding.
