[edit] Synopsis

Following in the tradition of Big, Freaky Friday and Vice Versa, the film uses the high school comedy structure as a basis to explore teenage insecurities, hopes and fears. The film stars Samaire Armstrong as Nell and as Woody in Nell's body, Kevin Zegers as Woody, and as Nell in Woody's body. They are two teenage rivals who after arguing in front of an Aztec statue, wake up in each other's body (the bodies are still in their respective homes, so the minds have moved). Although they are surprised, the two characters focus more on practical aspects (it causes many problems for them) than on their amazement about this event. They have to get used to their new bodies; for example, Nell's mind in Woody's body wakes up with an erection, and Woody's mind has to get used to breasts. They tell nobody about what happened, play their role according to their body, and start to live with the corresponding parents. Thus Woody has to go to an interview that Nell was going to have at Yale University that following week, and Nell has to play football, including Woody's big football game the following week.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details about It's a Boy Girl thing follow.

They anticipate that after a while they will return to their own bodies, and end up not being able to resist the temptation of ruining each other's lives as Nell breaks up with Woody's cheerleader girlfriend and Woody threatens to break the virginity of Nell's body. However they soon realise that the only way they are going to get through the drama is by helping each other. Woody teaches Nell how to play football and Nell teaches Woody how to analyse and love poetry in preparation for both of their upcoming big events.

After spending so much time together they begin to become fond of each other and eventually they come to love each other. Woody passes Nell's Yale interview and Nell performs brilliantly in Woody's football game. Finally they switch back to their own bodies again and become lovers.
