[edit] Welcome from Redwolf24

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.

Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.

Redwolf24 (Talk) 20:38, 26 July 2005 (UTC) The current time and date is 09:23, 8 April 2007 (UTC).

P.S. I like messages :-P

P.P.S. as for your user name, someone may deem it innappropriate. I wont as I get the Chappelle ref. but just saying watch out. Redwolf24 20:38, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

wow, thats amazing. --Is Wayne Brady gonna have to smack a bitch? , Well is he? 20:40, 26 July 2005 (UTC)
Yeah I get it, I have the second season on DVD. I'm Rick James Bitch. Ha, lol, D. J. Bracey (talk) 00:46, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
Isn't it "choke a bitch"? Adam Bishop 07:01, 9 August 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't get the Chappelle reference and I don't think it's relevant. This name isn't even remotely appropriate. Your edits, on the other hand, are very welcome. Please choose a less offensive name and continue editing. See block notice. --Tony SidawayTalk 07:35, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

Yes, please do keep editing, since you're good at it, but please do find a new name. I'm sure you're annoyed at this, which probably strikes you as petty Naziism or the like, but wikipedia has become a very wide-ranging area featuring people with lots of different ages, backgrounds and cultures, so seemingly-offensive-but-not-really-because-its-a-joke references fall flat. (I don't get it, either) - DavidWBrooks 11:37, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

Could someone who objects to it please explain carefully for the benefit of this higgerant Brit what is wrong with this user name? Provide wikilinks such as: Wayne Brady and Chappelle's Show. I have followed these links and still cannot see what the problem is. I remember the fuss when Janet Jackson did not even flash a nipple (it was concealed). I assumed the fuss was made up by the media and her PR department. But I believe that ordinary people did actually complain about it. Amazing. -- RHaworth 17:21:13, 2005-08-13 (UTC)

[edit] This does not help

It does not help your situation when you create an account by the name of IsWayneBradygonnahavetosmackabitch2 to circumvent your block. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 04:14, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

  • You made a mistake my friend. After creating User:IsWayneBradygonnahavetosmackabitch3, any chance of this account being unblocked has been destroyed. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 04:24, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

According to Webster's NewWorld Dictionary, a vandal is:
n.
1. a member of an East Germanic tribe that ravaged Gaul, Spain, and N Africa and sacked Rome (455 A.D.)
2. [v-] a person who, out of malice or ignorance, destroys or spoils any public or private property, esp. that which is beautiful or artistic
adj.
1. of the Vandals: also Vandalic
2. [v-] like or characteristic of a vandal; ruthlessly destructive
Now, none of those definitions seem to match this user. Jarlaxle 04:59, August 14, 2005 (UTC)
  • I agree. And no one has answered my question above - what is the problem with this as a user name? -- RHaworth 19:27:46, 2005-08-14 (UTC)

It's a derogatory reference to women and advocates the use of violence. --Tony SidawayTalk 19:31, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

ROTFLMAO. "Bitch" is, according to MY dictionary, a quite prim and proper scientific term meaning "adult female canid". So, whatever all this nonsense is about derogatory names for women really needs to stop -- this is really about whether or not Wayne Brady is going to need to smack a puppy's momma. And as to whether or not it advocates violence -- it doesn't say "Hey, Wayne Brady, we advocate that you go smack a bitch!" but rather poses it as a question -- is he going to have to smack a bitch, or is he not going to have to? --Node 03:38, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
That's your point of view. Not everyone sees it that way. Jarlaxle 06:00, August 22, 2005 (UTC)
Alright, enough. We don't care what Webster's has to say. I'm quoting directly from Wikipedia:Vandalism:
Types of Vandalism
Attention seeking vandalism
Adding insults, using offensive usernames, replacing articles with jokes etc. (see also Wikipedia:No personal attacks)
So, according to Wikipedia, he is a vandal. Linuxbeak | Talk | Desk 14:20, August 22, 2005 (UTC)
Well, according to the real world, he isn't. Jarlaxle 19:57, August 22, 2005 (UTC)
What a ridiculous comment. It's obvious what the name is meant to be used for. As an insult to women. User:Zoe|(talk) 03:48, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Jefferson Parrish la seal.gif. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Note that any unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 03:02, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Clubbing the baby seals

I think you just be tagging these seal images incorrectly. I think {{seal}} is what you are looking foir. --Chris Griswold 07:20, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Untagged image

An image you uploaded, Image:Pottawattamie County ia seal.gif, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 15:53, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please do not upload still images in the GIF format

Hello and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you've uploaded a number of still images in the GIF format. In the future, please save GIF images in the PNG format before uploading (see Wikipedia:Preparing images for upload). PNG images almost always have a smaller file size, which decreases the amount of time they take to load. There are a bunch of other advantages to the PNG format such as lossless compression that you can read about on its Wikipedia article. —Remember the dot (t) 22:59, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
