[edit] Image Tagging Image:Four Modes of Suppy.JPG

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Four Modes of Suppy.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. — Rebelguys2 talk 09:05, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Why did you delete my graphic?

re: Image Tagging Image:Four Modes of Supply.JPG

Please explain to me why this guy deleted the graphic I added. It was cited accurately, and I don't know what else I can do than that. --istia 16:03, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, to start, your graphic was never deleted. In addition, you certainly did not cite it correctly. The page where you upload images explicity states that, if you made the image yourself, say so. I don't know how you expected anyone to interpret, "Source: Scheduling of Initial Commitment in Trade in Services," or, "available on the World Trade Organization Website, posted courtesy of ISTIA," as a notice saying that you created the image or that all rights had been released. "Courtesy of" doesn't imply release of anything. — Rebelguys2 talk 19:50, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. The graphic was previously published, and rights are reserved, subject to citation. I made reference to the site where it is published. Citing that site does not release the graphic for public usage.--istia 22:11, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
OK. Just remember that, when uploading an image to Wikipedia, it must be released under a free license – that is, you must either explicitly release it into the public domain or explicitly release it under a GFDL, or Creative Commons license. While uploading, you can select a license in the drop-down menu on the upload page, or find one to use at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags.
There isn't much room for vague phases such as "I give myself permission to post it here;" they're meaningless here. Wikipedia is free; that is, items are not to be released just for use on Wikipedia, or just for non-commercial use, etc. They must be released so that anyone can do anything they want with them – including, but not limited to, taking any of the items you have contributed so far (i.e., all of the images and text you have contributed), modifying those items, and then selling and reusing those items in any way he or she sees fit, as long as they follow the fairly lax guidelines they are released under (which you can find by reading the licenses; text contributions, for example, are usually released under the GFDL, where you must provide a modification history and respective contributors). — Rebelguys2 talk 15:33, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
