Istrobanka is a universal commercial bank operates in Slovakia. Established on September 1992. Istrobanka with full offer of retail and wholesale products and services and with individual approach to the needs of clients satisfies demanding requirements of corporates and individuals.

Istrobanka's founding shareholder was Slovenská poisťovňa (Slovak Insurance Company). In 1993, Bratislava - the capital city of Slovakia - became another shareholder. Shareholder structure was extended in 1994 by the third shareholder, Austrian GiroCredit Bank AG, that has merged with Die Erste Österreichische SparCasse Bank AG to form a new entity Erste Bank der Österreichischen Sparkassen AG.
With effect from March 2002, Austrian BAWAG became the principal shareholder of Istrobanka and holds 100% stake within the bank.

About 60 branches and sub-branches of Istrobanka are located throughout Slovakia. The bank continuously builds new offices.
