Israeli Roleplaying Society
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Israeli Roleplaying Society is a non-profit volunteer-based organization, founded in February of 1999 by a group of Israeli roleplayers, and its goal is to promote awareness to roleplaying in Israel.
[edit] Goals of the ISRP
As stated in the Society's charter, the Society's goals are:
- Promoting the roleplaying hobby in Israel.
- Solidifying and cultivating the national community of roleplayers.
- Encouraging new players to join, and aiding existing players.
- Promoting awareness in the general public and exposure in the media for the subject of roleplaying.
- Organizing, marketing and operating various roleplaying activities around the country.
The Society does not endorse or promote a specific type of game, genre or system, but aspires to advance the hobby as a whole.
[edit] Operations
The Society runs a website with on-line forums, where you can find most if not all of the roleplaying activities that happen during the year (conventions, games and LARPs, social activities, and so on), the "Fifth Side", a now defunct on-line roleplaying magazine in Hebrew, and a database of roleplayers in Israel.
The Society also operates a Members Club which gives discounts in various activities, both organized by the Society and by "friendly" organizations like "Starbase 972", the Star Trek Fan Organization in Israel, or the Fantasy and Science Fiction Society.
The Society is one of the three organizations that organize the ICON Festival, where many of the activities deal with roleplaying.
