Israeli Adjutant Corps
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Israeli Adjutant Corps is a support corps in the IDF GOC Army Headquarters.
The corps was created in 1977 as one of three corps established as a conclusion to drawing lesson from the IDF's shortcomings in the Yom Kippur War. During the war, the hasty manner in which reserve troops were called to service posed special problems for the Human Resources Directorate, ones which the corps is designed to address. It is now thought that the corps provides an important service, both during war and peacetime, by having a professional staff to assist commanders in dealing with issues faced by individual soldiers.
The transfer of the Adjutant Corps from the Human Resources Directorate to GOC Army Headquarters is almost complete. As of 2005, the Chief Adjutant Officer is Brigadier-General Orna Barbivai.
