I am sorry but I had remove this template twice from an article simply because it is way too long. It completely messed up the format of the article since the article included many pictures that were placed to the relevant sections. Such vertical templates are generally not a good idea unless they regroup articles about different topics under a larger topic (eg politics and arts templates). However, this is simply a list. The correct format should be a horizontal template that will go to the bottom of the article. If it stays as such a long vertical template, I will have no choice to remove it again if it were to be re-included in that article. Currently it messes up the article's style and format, and is very distracting to the reader. So please format it horizontally and I will include it. By the way, the template's color setup is also not very pretty. You can simply transpose the format of anohter horizontal template and change the wikilinks. Most of those templates are light blue templates and look much nicer. Cheers! Baristarim 08:55, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

this is the only template which covers "ISLAM BY COUNTRY" and we have to give the name of each country so that is why it is soo long.7day 17:48, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
I think that you have misunderstood: The problem is not the idea, but style and format. I am sorry but you added this template to the Islam in Turkey article and all the pictures in it had to be formatted to make way for the template. It doesn't look good and distracts the reader + those pictures are more important to the article than this template. Please use a horizontal template like {{Europe topic}}. It will look nicer and be more purposeful. If you do not know how to format a template, pls contact experienced users to do the transformation. It shouldn't take more than twenty minutes for the re-format. Happy Eid! Baristarim 19:43, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
the pics on the page can pe placed on the left side as the template is on the right and also plz tell me why you are removing this template from other pages such as islam in russia and Islam in Canada as this does not disturb the pics their as they are already on the left side of thepage. and this template was made by me using horizontal template's and a vertical one,the idea was to integrate all of them. and Happy Eid! to you too!!.7day 06:47, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
I have to agree with Baristarim. Take for example, Islam in Mozambique. The template is twice as long as the article itself! The template: Islam in Africa is already at the bottom of the page. I think that is far more important to the reader than Islam by every other country. I am going to remove this template from that article until it is changed to fit better.--Thomas.macmillan 16:46, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Islam in Mozambique is an exception where the article is short but it should not be removed from aricles that fit it.7day 06:23, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

(just unindenting) maybe the template could be changed to have a hide/show function displaying the various countries by continent? Badbilltucker 17:04, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template bug?

Even though this template sits on the right-side of the page, it is forcing all the left-aligned images to appear below the end of it. See [1], for example. In general, I would suggest that given the length of this thing, it should be horizontal and placed at the bottom of articles, rather than vertical and placed as a sidebar. This matches the format of other navigation bars in virtually all areas of Wikipedia, such as linguistics ({{Indo-Iranian languages}}), minority ethnic groups in a country ({{Asian Americans}}), etc. cab 03:56, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Please fix the issue with the template instead of just going in and restoring it to articles where people are removing it because it turns their layout into a mess. Thank you. cab 09:10, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
I've run up a quick horizontal template at {{Islam by country horizontal}} based off of {{Navbox generic}}. Comments? cab 09:44, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

thanks for the horizontal template i think that it should be used when the vertical one does not fit the page or disturbes the images. but on islam in china page the vertical one should be used.7day 19:18, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Why, exactly? Vertical bars that long will always cause problems with the layout. Several people have tried to remove it and you always restore it without reason. cab 23:22, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
