[edit] Present or past tense?

I believe there are purposes (eg funding purposes) for which the areas still qualify as island or isalnds areas. Laurel Bush 12:51, 25 January 2006 (UTC).

They are, Laurel, but "Islands Area" was an official designation much like "Region", e.g. Strathclyde was officially "Strathclyde Region" and the Western Isles were "Western Isles Islands Area". Hope this helps! Kris_sw 02:31, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
