Islamonline.net describes its mission is to create a unique, global Islamic website on the Internet that provides services to Muslims and non-Muslims in several languages.[1]

According to Alexa Internet, Islamonline.net is one of the two most visited Islam-related websites on the Internet.[2] It has forums on various issues (Politics, New Muslims, Entertainment, etc.) and other interactive venues, such as the "Ask the Scholar" section, where visitors can post a question regarding Islam and get response within days.[3]

IslamOnline.net is owned by Sunni Muslim scholar Yusuf al-Qaradawi and the Al-Balagh Charity Society in Doha, Qatar.[4] Islamonline.net has a small administrative office in Doha, while its content is managed from Cairo, Egypt, where more than 200 employees work full-time. The website also has more than 1500 writers, correspondents, counselors and Islamic scholars working with it from around the world. Its content providers belong to a large variety of creeds and ethnic backgrounds.[3]

IslamOnline.net, in response to a question from 'IOL Shariah Researchers,' reguarding the issue of Apostasy in Islam, said that people who leave Islam after they have reached puberty should be required to return to Islam. If they refuse they should be killed.[5]
