Islam in São Tomé and Príncipe

The islands of São Tomé and Príncipe, with a total population of about 181,000, has about 5,500 Muslims or 3% of the total population, compared to the estimated 80% of the population professing Roman Catholicism, as per the islands long history as colony of overwhelmingly Catholic Portugal. [1]. There are also no known mosques, madrassas or other Muslim organizations operating in the country [2].
