In a jurisprudence book, it is stated that ^[1]:

“

If a man rubs his wife's vagina, or a woman rubs her husband's penis, and they ejaculate as a result, there's is no problem, Imam Abu Yusuf narrates that Imam Abu Hanifa was asked about this question he said 'There is nothing wrong with it. I am confident that there is a considerable merit in this act for both parties.

”

All scholars have a stongly negative view of the practice.

Islamonline.net, the site of contemporary Sunni Salafi Muslim scholar Yusuf al-Qaradawi states^[2]:

“

The four schools of Islamic jurisprudence and other Muslim jurists have unanimously agreed that anal sex is haram or unlawful. The wife should abstain from responding to her husband's demand to have anal sex, and she will not be considered disobedient in that case. Still, she has the right to seek divorce as long as he insists on having anal sex, or harm her on account of her refusal. However, the marriage is still considered valid, and this act is no more than a forbidden practice done in the framework of a valid contract."

Also ^[3]:

“

If a man does this, his wife is not considered to be divorced as many people think because there is no evidence from either the Qur’an or the Sunnah at all which indicates this. But the scholars said that if a man habitually does this, his wife has the right to ask for a divorce because he is an evildoer or fasiq who is causing harm by his action, and also because the purpose of marriage cannot be achieved through this action. The wife has to resist this evil action and remind her husband about Allah and about the punishment for transgressing the limits set by Him. If the husband repents to Allah from this deed, there is no reason why she should not stay with him, and there is no need to renew the marriage contract."

It further quotes:

The Qur'an, chapter 2 (Al-Baqara), verse 223:

“

"Your women are a tilth for you (to cultivate) so go to your tilth as ye will."— translated by Unknown

”

And continues:

“

From the word harth (tilth) we understand that what is permissible is only in the vagina (the front passage) because this is what will produce children. The semen that is planted in the womb from which offspring come is likened to the seeds which are planted in the ground, from which vegetation comes, as both of them are substances from which something else is produced.

The phrase translated as “as ye will” means in any manner you wish, that is, from behind or from the front, sitting or with the wife lying on her back or on her side, so long as it is in the place of tilth (i.e., the vagina, the place from which a baby is born).

”

Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, a 21st century Shi'a twelver Islamic scholar answeres on two different questions ^[4]:

“

Based on the widely held opinion of Shiite scholars this act (anal sex) is strongly Makrooh (undesirable, what is not Haram to do, but it is better to avoid). There is no objection to the couple getting pleasure from the entire body of one another. But it should be taken into consideration that some actions are beneath human dignity.

Permission is bound to wife’s agreement, but it is strongly undesirable.

”

Regarding if the wife is in her periods, he answers ^[4]:

“

If wife is consenting to it, it is permissible but it would be extremely abominable.

”
