Isla Muerta
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Isla Muerta tells the story of dinosaur species that suffered from a disease and are left abandoned in a theme park found on an uncharted island by a staff of scientists and a ill-fated CEO. The dinosaurs survived the disease and turned the island into their personal land and have journeys and adventures around the island to live on for the rest of their lives.
[edit] Story Recap
The story begins on Febuary 10, 1992, where a staff of scientists such as Dr. Nick Carver, Dr. Henry Queen, Dr. Ray Leonard, Dr. Roger Jay, Dr. Jane Asali and Dr. Ellie Sattlers and a CEO known as John Williams start a theme park on an uncharted island called Dinosaur Park and they start to create and clone dinosaurs by using a genetic material from mosquitoes that fed on the blood of dinosaurs millions of years ago. The dinosaur DNA is spiced with the DNA of frogs to fill in any gaps and, to control the population, all of the dinosaurs around the island, Isla Muerta, are female. When visitors came to Dinosaur Park, they were amazed at seeing the dinosaurs and they want to know if they will have families.
Soon, the scientists create and clone male dinosaurs in order to form loving familes by mating and raising young. For years, things on Dinosaur Park were going really fine but it wasn't long until a horrifying thing happenned.
On January 8, 1996, a rare disease suddenly spread upon a Tyrannosaurus Rex, the park's fiercest dinosaur resident, and soon the T. rex becomes a little sick and all of a sudden, he gets affected with rabies, becomes full of stress and goes on a rampage on the park. However, the other carnivores are infested with rabies and go on a rampage along with the T. rex. Some of the hertivores became stressed and tried to escape from their enclosures. The park rangers are called to cure them but some of the dinosaurs came almost to a fate.
Soon, the disasters ended and the dinosaurs are put into comas. The rangers put them in their enclosures and cured them, but they are still a comatose state and the visitors stopped coming until a month ago. Soon, upon John's depature in Febuary 29, 1996, the staff of scientist solute him in his death and left the park gone forever and cured the sickness of the many dinosaurs on Isla Muerta. Soon, the staff left the dinosaurs a home in the island and, after a week later, the dinosaurs were out of their comas and lived on the island for the rest of their lives as they venture, journey, hunt, eat, rest, sleep, travel, play, mate, and raise children.
[edit] Dinosaur Species
- Anatotitan: This lesser known dinosaur is from the late Cretaceous period. Anatotitan is 40-feet long and is 14-feet tall at the hip. At five tons, this animal is heavily debated due a skull found in the T. rex Nesting Grounds but it still living on the island since its population is more than 2 million like the other duckbilled dinosaurs. Its name is "Duck Titan".
- Ankylosaurus: This dinosaur lived in the late Cretaceous period 70 million years ago. It is 28-feet long and 9-feet tall at hip. Ankylosaurus has armor on its back that can break the teeth of meat-eating dinosaurs and has a club tail that is used to fight off enemies but the only weakness to it is its belly. It can't run fast and is sometimes a bit slow for its running speed for up to 12 miles per hour. Its name is "Large-sided Fused Lizard".
- Apatosaurus: Originally named Brontosaurus, Apatosaurus is a sauropod dinosaur living in the late Jurassic Period about 155 million to 145 million years ago. It reaches about 70-feet long, was 15-feet tall at hip and weighs up to 30 tons. Its name is "Deceptive Lizard".
- Baryonyx: Living in the Early Cretaceous about 130 to 120 million years ago, Baryonyx is 40-feet long, stood 16 feed tall and weighed up to 4 tons, also having a related cousin such as the fish-eating Spinosaurus and has a large claw on each hand that is able to catch fish. Its name is "Heavy Claw".
- Brachiosaurus: This dinosaur is believed to be the largest land-animal of all time, but isn't as big as the other largest dinosaur, Sauroposeidon and the titanosaurs of South America. Brachiosaurus grew to 105-feet in length, 23-feet tall at hip; 52-feet tall at the top of the head, and weighed up to 78 tons. This gentle giant may be very big in size but it will be frightened by any predator that attacks it. Predators usually walk off in retreats by the sauropod, despite Brachiosaurus has an inability to run. Both male and female Brachiosauruses are different from each other: the male is the most vibrant in color and are bigger, while the females are duller in color and are a little smaller than the males. Its name is "High Chested Arm Lizard".
- Ceratosaurus: Living the late Jurassic period during 155 million to 145 million years, this carnivore is usually large, at 12-feet tall, 27-feet long and weighing at 2 tons. Despite its hunting with packs, Ceratosaurus would possibly reach to a maximum length of 30.5-feet if fully-grown. During those years of living on Isla Muerta, 100 members of the Ceratosaurus population has been mutated with the DNA of a Tyrannosaurus Rex while the others are different than this. Its name is "Horned Lizard".
- Compsognathus: At 3-feet long, standing at 1-foot tall and weighing 3.5 pounds, this small, adventurous dinosaur lives during the late Jurassic period about 150 to 144 million years ago. Compsognathus would be strong enough to take down a raptor by itself and preys upon itself, despite being called "Compy". This creature may appear small but will be stomped by the foot of a Brachiosaurus. Its name is "Elegant Jaw".
- Corythosaurus: Living 80 million to 75 million years ago in the late Cretaceous period, Corythosaurus reaches up to 23 to 25-feet long, weighs 4 tons, and is 14-feet tall at height. Along with Parasaurolophus and other plant-eating dinosaurs, Corythosaurus travels in herds.
- Parasaurolophus: A 30-foot long, 15-feet tall, 3 ton animal living in the Late Cretaceous 76 million to 65 million years ago. Along with Corythosaurus it lives in herds. Its name is "Similar Saurolophus".
- Dilophosaurus: Meaning "Double-Crested Lizard", Dilophisaurus lived during the Early Jurassic Period approximately 200 million to 160 million years ago. It measured nearly 25-feet long, is 7-feet tall, and weighs 1.100 pounds. However, it may appear cute and seemingly harmless but people may get fooled by them, despite members of its species have the ability to grow hoods and spit black gooey venom that blinds something they catch, except for their screeching and hissing.
- Gallimimus: Having the name "Chicken Mimic", Gallimimus is a 20-foot long, 10-foot tall, and 968-pound herbivore living in the late Cretaceous period 75 million to 70 million years ago. Despite living in herds, Gallimimus can run fast like some dinosaurs although it has to run at a short distance.
- Hadrosaurus: Having the name "Sturdy Lizard", Hadrosaurus is a kind of hadrosaur living in the late Cretaceous period about 80 to 70 million years ago, measuring 29-feet long, was 9-feet tall at the hip and weighed 3.5 tons. It appears prey for meat-eating dinosaurs like the other duckbills.
- Herrerasaurus: At almost 13-feet long, 7.5-feet tall and weighing 80 pounds, Herrerasaurus is an ancestor of T. rex that lives in the late Triassic period about 235 to 200 million years ago. Its name is "Herrera's Lizard".
- Leptoceratops: Having the name "Slender Horn Face", Leptoceratops is a dinosaur living in the late Cretaceous period 70 million to 65 million years ago. It measured 6.6-feet in length, stood 2.5-feet tall and weighs 150 pounds.
- Maisaura: A peaceful duckbilled dinosaur, Maisaura is a 30-foot long, 14-foot tall, 3 ton dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period 75 million to 65 million years ago. Having the name "Mother Lizard", it usually lives in herds where it takes care of its young like a caring parent, despite living in herds and always friends to other duckbill dinosaurs. Maisaura also lives during the time of the tyrannosaur, Daspletosaurus.
Muttaburrasaurus: At 26-feet long, 10-feet tall and 4.3 tons, Muttaburrasaurus lived during the early Cretaceous period about 120 million to 100 million years ago. It had the name "Muttaburra Lizard".
