This template auto-categorizes the use of the newer 13 digit ISBNs now that the system software upgrade successfully parses same WHILE providing a list of where 13 digit ISBN's are used articles.

In a word, 'progress. Various publishers are presenting ISBNs pending the international standards change effective January 2007 with prefixes like "ISBN-10:" (deprecated system in effect in July 2006 as I write this) and "ISBN-13".
