Isa Alptekin

Isa Yusuf Alptekin (1902 - 1995, Istanbul) was a Uyghur political leader, exiled from China. Headed the First East Turkestan Republic in Kashgar (November,12,1933- February,6,1934) as the General Secretary of National Assembly of Republic (also represented Eastern Turkestan in Nanking at 1932-1934 years) with the Government, led by Prime-minister Sabit Damulla, with Hoja-Niyaz, served as titular President. Initially Republic was named as " Turkish Islamic Republic of East Turkestan " (TIRET), representing multi-national staff of its Government (that included uyghurs as well as uzbek, kyrgyz, tatar and turk nationalities), its anti- hui, anti- han and anti- communism policies, declared in Declaration of Independence, and basic islam principles, declared in its Constitution, but later some leaders had attempted to rename it as " Republic of Uyghurstan ", that resulted in issue of national currency in the form of minted copper ( pul ) , silver ( tanga ) and gold ( tilla ) coins under name- " Uyghurstan Jumhuriyeti ".
He was the father of Erkin Alptekin.
