The Irwin Belk Track and Field Center/Transamerica Field is a stadium located on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Finished in 1996, the stadium is home to the 49ers soccer and track and field teams.

Many speculate that if the 49ers' were to field a football team, that a larger west stand would be constructed with a new press box and some luxury suites; so that the facility could accommodate the sport at the DI-AA level. This might be problematic as the facility's western side is very close to Toby Creek and the environmental impact might be expensive to remedy. It might also require the relocation of the softball field as well. In addition, the construction of expansions to the ends of the stadium would also effect Toby Creek and the road between the main campus and the Charlotte Research Institute, CRI Campus.

The facility would most likely be used as a temporary football stadium while an on campus facility is under construction. It would probably become the home to new female sports such as field hockey, so that the university could meet its Title IX requirements.

Potential on/near campus sites for a football stadium include the intramural fields behind the CRI campus, the wooded area north of the north student housing area, the Martin Marietta site on the other side of Mallard Creek Church Rd., and the wooded area at the corner of Toby Creek Rd and William T. Harris Blvd.

Off campus facilities could include Bank of America Stadium and American Legion Memorial Stadium, both in downtown Charlotte.
