  • Old Saxon irmin "strong, whole", maybe also "strong, tall, exalted"[1] (Old High German ermen, Old Norse jǫrmun), from Proto-Germanic *erminaz, *ermenaz or *ermunaz, in personal names (Arminius, Ermenbald, Ermenbert, Ermenfried, Ermenhard, Ermelinda, Ermintrude, Emma)
  • The mythical founder of the Hermiones tribe, son of Mannus, war god, a possible epithet of Ziu or Wodan
  • Bishop Irmin or Ermin, died AD 737
