Irma Lair is a 13 year old teen who is going through her last year of middle school/early high school at the Sheffield Institute and who is also a member of W.I.T.C.H.. She has a 7 year-old brother named Christopher Lair and Tom Lair her father, and Anna Lair her stepmother. She has light-brown slightly wavy hair, and greenish-blue eyes. Irma's birthday is March 13 and her sign is Pisces. Her favorite school subject is Geography.

Irma is a spunky, cheerful, positive, optimistic and humorous person. She is a protagonist and is the comedic one of the group. She is a kind-hearted person that cares about those she has relationships with. She tends to be somewhat of a leader and is known to crack jokes about almost anyone she comes in contact with. She also almost always wants to be center stage, and, depending on the person, can or can't holds grudges for long. She also has a big appetite, revealed the time she devours all of Mrs. Rudolph's cookies without a care for them being possibly poisoned, unlike the other more cautious Guardians. She is seen as the biggest flirt and boy expert of the group.

Irma has light brown hair and blue eyes. Her birthday is given as March 13, making her a Pisces. She lives in a house with her policemen father Mr.Lair, her pesty little seven year old brother Chris Lair and Anna Lair, who is her stepmother in the comics and her mother in the animated series. In the comics she has a pet turtle named Leafy, in who she conifides all her secrets.
Irma likes taking long baths and showers, shopping, rock music and making up nicknames. Her idol is Karmilla, a rock singer, but she's also a big fan of soccer player David Addams. Irma is crazy about boys and has had many different crushes, most notably on Andrew Hornby, She is good friends with a boy named Martin Tubbs, who has a monster crush on her. She can often be seen useing her powers for personal gain.
Irma is the guardian of Water, therefore controls water and also has other advanced powers. Her theme color is Turquoise and her symbool is a blue wave crest.

Irma Lair is the Guardian of water. She can manipulate all forms of water. She can Freeze water or evaporate water as please. In the beginning of the comics she cannot create water, stating that she cannot "wring the stuff" out of thin air. But in issue 25 she is now able to generate water from drawing moisture from the air as water. However, in the animated, she could conjure water anywhere she desired, even in Kandrakar. This is up for discussion because Kandrakar is another world and doesn't necessarily have the same physical laws or things that Earth does. In the animated series, Irma was shown to be able to cause rain.

Irma can change the physical appearance of things or people. She can also influence minds, controlling people's decisions. Irma also has good intuition. Her newest power is that she sees visions in the water and she is very afraid of it. Sometimes when she and Cornelia argues, their emotions can trigger their powers and cause a thunderstorm.
