Irma Johnson

Irma Johnson is a minor fictional character on NBC's daytime drama, Passions. She was played by Marla Gibbs.

Irma Johnson is the sister of Eve Johnson's father Warren Johnson thus making her Eve's paternal aunt. Irma had been living in a retirement home paid for by her niece Eve for several years. Eve had told her husband and daughters that she had no living relatives to keep her past a secret.
Irma was brought to Harmony by Eve's (adopted) half-sister Liz Sanbourne to destroy Eve's family with TC Russell. Irma not only revealed to the family that Eve had been a whore and a drug addict when she lived in Boston but also that Eve had been pregnant with the son of Julian Crane, TC's most hated rival. This served to destroy the Russells marriage.
Irma and Eve used to be very close when Eve was growing up. Irma was very proud of Eve's singing ability and loved to brag about her niece in their church's gospel choir. Their relationship was strained when Irma went to visit an adult Eve in Boston and saw her wasting her voice singing in a seedy jazz club, drugged out of her mind and cavorting with several men. The last straw was a later visit where Irma discovered Eve was pregnant by a white man named Julian Crane. They didn't speak for nearly 20 years after this.
Irma despite her christian upbringing was a very foul-mouthed woman. She would often insult her niece by calling her a whore or a slut.
In November of 2005, Simone paid a visit to her great-aunt to inform her that she was a lesbian. Prior to breaking the news to her, Simone and Irma had a long discussion about prejudice and the deplorable way that african-americans were treated for many years, and still in some cases today. When Simone finally told her the truth, Irma did not take this news very well and proceeded to rant and rave about how she thought homosexuality was vile and disgusting. She also declared that as long as Simone was a lesbian, that she had no use for her and told her to get out

- Irma is no relation to Liz Sanbourne, Eve's adopted half sister. After the death of Irma's brother Warren, Eve's mother Ruby remarried a man with the last name Sanbourne and they adopted Liz.
