Irfan Yusuf

Irfan Yusuf (born 1969) is an Australian lawyer of Indian Muslim descent, born in Karachi, Pakistan. He arrived in Australia 5 months later. His parents are from Delhi.
Irfan went to St Andrew’s Cathedral School, an Anglican private school. He also attended camps of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils. He also served as the president of the Islamic Youth Association of New South Wales, a body which has now become part of Young Muslims of Australia.
Yusuf holds a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws completed in 1993 and was admitted as solicitor in 1994. His main area of practice is industrial relations.
Yusuf served as President of the Bankstown Young Liberals and the Bankstown Liberal State Electorate Conference. He was endorsed Liberal candidate for the seat of Reid in the 2001 Australian Federal Election.
From time to time, Yusuf writes articles which have appeared in some 11 newspapers in Australia and New Zealand. he also writes online for Crikey!, New Matilda, Malaysiakini and AltMuslim. He has appeared on radio and TV programs in Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. Yusuf has his own blog where he shares his ideas regarding various political and social issues.
