Iraqi Assistance Group

Iraqi Assistance Group (IAG), is a U.S. military plan with Multi-National Force-Iraq that assigns Military Transition Teams assigned to Iraqi Army units at the Battalion, Brigade and Division level coaching, mentoring, and partnering with them in fighting the Counter Insurgency Battle in Iraq.
The set up and goals of the (IAG) organization are similar to the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV) and Military Assistance Advisory Group (MAAG) that sent American military advisors to assist in the training of soldiers in Indochina specifically to organize the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, (ARVN).[1]
The Iraqi Assistance Group is a pivotal key role that would lead to the success of the National Strategy for Victory in Iraq for the United States government to issue the redeployment of U.S. soldiers from Iraq.

Currently all Military Transition Teams(MITT), receive training at Fort Riley, Kansas,Camp Buehring, Kuwait and the Phoenix Academy located in Taji, Iraq before they are assigned to their Iraqi Units.
