Ipe Ivandić

Goran "Ipe" Ivandić (10 December 195513 January 1994) was a Bosnian rock drummer famous for his work with Bijelo Dugme.

Ivandić was born in Vareš, central Bosnia, then Yugoslavia. As a young boy he moved to Sarajevo. During his elementary school education he attended violin classes, but after final exam didn't want to bother anymore with that instrument. In his first band (formed while he was a teenager), he ended up playing drums. In his years prior to Bijelo Dugme, he became rather well known in Sarajevo for his drumming skills. The last band he played in before entering Bijelo Dugme was named Rock, so in 1973 Goran Bregović invited him to join Jutro, which transferred into Bijelo dugme within a year.

For the next four seasons he played in that band. Then in 1978 Bregović went to serve in the army, Ipe and Lazo Ristovski started their own project called "Stižemo". Carried away with their initial success, the two abandoned Bijelo Dugme and committed to their new project. That same year, Ipe was arrested for possession of hashish and sentenced to 3 years in prison. He began serving his sentence in 1981 and was pardoned almost 2 years later. After being freed, he rejoined Bijelo Dugme and played in the band until 1989, when the band was dissolved.

In the 1980s he also recorded two albums with his long-time girlfriend Amila, but they failed to make any success.

It is unclear where he lived after the war started. Most say that he lived in Belgrade but Željko Bebek in his [1] interview, states he lived in Vienna.

However, on 13 January 1994, Ivandić fell from the 6th floor of Belgrade's hotel Metropol building and died. It is generally believed that it was a suicide, but Bebek in the same interview says he doesn't believe it was a suicide.
