Iowa State (elm cultivar)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The American Elm Ulmus americana Iowa State was included in a list of supposedly disease-resistant elms developed by Dr. Harold S. McNabb at Iowa State University that appeared in the American Horticulturist (sic) News Edition, 63(5):4, 1984. Described as a natural selection from southeastern Iowa, highly resistant to Dutch elm disease when inoculated. Specimens were subsequently given to a Mr. Donald C. Willeke, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and believed to have been planted in that city.
