Iorwerth Thomas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Iorwerth Rhys Thomas (22 January 1895 – 3 December 1966) was a Welsh Labour Party politician.
Thomas was Member of Parliament for Rhondda West from the 1950 general election until he died in office in 1966, aged 71. His death caused the Rhondda West by-election, 1967, when a very large swing to Plaid Cymru cut Labour's majority from 70% of the vote to only 9%.
