[edit] Origin

Ionut is a Romanian male first name originating from the latin "Ionutus", a saint in ancient Romanian History. First evidence of the Ionut family tree was found 242 BC in the Slavic area of Bohdovic, Macedonia, now called Erekovci. An excavation team of Roman soldiers, originally deployed to recover a stolen Crown Jewel in the area, brought back documents firstly mentioning the name.
