[edit] Justforkix (Gouderix)

I'm including him because he's a major character in one story as a well as a major character in the highest budget feature film as well. Even though it's the same story, it's big enough to make him notable.

Granted, he hasn't been named as "Justforkix" yet—the English version has yet to offer a release date. Myself? I'm waiting for the French language version to make its way to the United States (via Quebec). astiqueparervoir 12:35, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Garbling Unicode characters

Your edits to Obelix are garbling Unicode characters (see the sr: interwiki link) [1]. What browser or editor are you using? -- Curps 00:45, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

OK, never mind. It was the previous anon editor who caused that. -- Curps 00:47, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

actually the anon editor was me - I switched from the comp in the bedroom to the livingroom and didn't realize I hadn't logged me in (as it's supposedly set up to do) before I finished the edit -- everything ... everything's set up for Unicode (I use Firefox) so I have to assume it happened during the transfer -- lesson learned.--Invisifan 01:40, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Asterix English Translations

Hi, I was just wondering what you meant when you said that not all of the Asterix books have been translated into English. I thought all of them were. R5t6y7 17:41, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

The 33 main albums (and a lot of other material) have indeed been translated, but not everything -- Specific examples would be the illustrate storbooks from the mid-1980s that Uderzo did (along with the final 2 Dogmatix books, which were translated by Hockridge & Bell — unlike earlier Dogmatix books) ... --Invisifan
btw the earlier Dogmatix books don't count - 4 weren't translated (apparently) and the othe 10 not by Hockridge & Bell, but the were house products - not written by Goscinny or Uderzo either --Invisifan 05:13, 22 June 2006 (UTC)...

[edit] License tagging for Image:Cetautomatix.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Cetautomatix.png. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 14:05, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Asterix

I have moved the sentences around to reflect what you mentioned in your post. Let me know what you think. User:Gnikhil

  • My last edit got screwed up because of the firefox problem.

The original wording suggested that all albums have been translated into Latin, Greek, which i think you are saying is incorrect. Thats why I broke it out from the first line. If you want to have a separate line for the "dead" languages, that would be more appropriate. Removing Hindi also makes sense.

    • looks great.

[edit] Asterix Templates

Well, do all Asterix films have novelizations? If, yes, then it would be fair to say that we can put them in the category "Asterix books" and "Asterix films" and use the "Asterix books template". If not, the problem with the template is that it includes any page using the template to be included in the category of Asterix Books. (so, if there is no novelization of the film, the categorization would be wrong)

I actually started going down the path of separating the two templates and had doubts, but I finished it anyway.

After I separated the templates, I had the thought that maybe the "Asterix books" template should not automatically categorize the page that includes it in "Asterix books" (but it was late I didnt feel like undoing what I had done). That way, we can have a one "stop-shop-template", as you suggest, but it does not categorize incorrectly.

p.s. - Do you know why the new category I created - Asterix fims still shows up as a page not created but has link to the films I put in the category?

[edit] Recurring characters in Asterix

Hi,

I had some thoughts about the recurring characters in Asterix and since, you have contributed quite a bit to the Asterix articles, I thought, I'd seek your opinion. Please go to Talk:Recurring characters in Asterix to add your opinions.

[edit] Main chracter images in recurring characters in Asterix

I fixed the sizes. I dont see a transparency issue with Obelix (maybe my monitor is inferior). I do see the problem with Asterix. Either, I can add a new scan with a whiter background, but I think you want to use images from the intro. I dont have photoshop for editing or I would have fixed the background. Paint is way too inferior. I think all the character images should be consistent in how we display them. Either, all can be thumbs or not. I dont care either way.

User:Gnikhil

All the other images also have a white background, right? So, won't they also look weird on a page with black background as default?

Looks like the solution would be to make all the images thumbs? and maybe, not have a caption with the thumb as the images are right next to their entries and that would be redundant info.

I take that back. You cropped the images and uploaded them. I dont know how you make the image blend into the background but the obvious solution to me is to do the same thing with the Asterix and Obelix images that you have done with the other images. I can do it if you tell me how you did it.
I had to replace the Asterix image because the resolution on the previous one was pretty bad. Thanks for taking care of the background problem. The dogmatix photo, I want to add one where he is chewing on a bone, which is much more in character for him. But, I'll see if I can find one that is big enough.

[edit] Archie characters

At User:Rsmcd/draft1 I have a draft copy of a new article which I would like some feedback on (I'm not sure what exactly to call it for one thing) ... As with any wiki, feel free to add/change — personally I plan to add images (as with my expansion of Riverdale High School), beyond that I'm not sure... I just felt they could use the article.

very good. maybe you can put it under grown-up characters category. everyone has their on separate page anyway, but we still don't have fred and mary andrews. HoneyBee 06:16, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
I've tried to include essentially everything from the 2 Lodges' articles, but just references to Jellybean & Wilma under the Jones' ... Everyone else is new in terms of having any significant write-up I think (including Fred & Mary) ... Leroy (about 8) and Jellybean aren't grown-ups though ...
yeah, i know. forgot about them. maybe you should put it under the family members

[edit] Re the warning.

(pasted from my talk)

What are you talking about?

re: your warning on my user:talk page ... look before you leap.--Invisifan 21:52, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I made a mistake. I totally acknowledge this and apologise wholeheartedly. You know what, though? I'm human too and not infallible. Like everyone else on the planet, I do make mistakes. You know, you could be a little more polite about correcting me, that would be much appreciated. If I'm wrong, politely tell me - as in "be nice, not rude and snippy". Just because someone makes a mistake and warns you doesn't give you the right to be a dick about it. A little politeness and common courtesy goes a long way. — Nathan (talk) / 21:59, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Indians vs. Native Americans

Thanks for the note about the Asterix page. I don't mind the revert (I understand that it's the wiki way) but I certainly appreciate the notice/explanation. I'm sure you're right, but can we please make it a bit more obvious, perhaps by adding the phrase "(from India)" or something like that? Not only will that make it clear, it will avoid future attempts to "fix an error". Thanks. Happy editing! --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 18:04, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re: Why?

Sorry, didn't realize that what you deleted was already elsewhere in the article. -- TheGreatLlama (speak to the Llama!) 19:07, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for your work against vandalism, and especially for protecting an article about my home city. :) --Nehwyn 14:55, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

It's alright, no harm no foul. I was half expecting that was what was happening in the first place. I've added the "a" you mentioned. :) The Filmaker 21:21, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Format of year pages

I see you've gone through 2006 changing how multiple events on the same date are formatted. We have a house style for year pages, arising from an August 2005 survey.

In general, it's a bad idea to make major formatting changes to pages that are among many that follow a common form, of which year and day-of-year pages are a prime example, unless there is a consensus of agreement to these changes. -- Smjg 12:58, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Amy Zidian

Do consider actually talking to me before rushing off to DRV, thanks. -- Steel 23:04, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Apologies - just following the process as I could find it. Personally I find WWE completely pointless -- she ended up on my Watchlist do to repairing some serial vandalism -- but regardless of my lack of interest the Speedy was inappropriate based on the current article ... However I'm not familiar with all the procedural in's & out's in cases like this--Invisifan 23:16, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
