- NEVER use š or š for s-caron. Numeric character references always refer to Unicode code points, and U+009A is a reserved control character, *not* s-caron. It might appear to work sometimes due to a fluke and crappy workarounds for compatibility with a Windows bug, but should definitely not be relied upon. Use the real Unicode number, š. The same goes for the other characters in the Windows CP1252 extended range (see ISO 8859-1#Windows-1252 ).
- For the moment the only named character references that will work in links are the ISO 8859-1 ones (s-caron does not appear in ISO 8859-1). Stick with the numbers for now.

[edit] Why a "stealth" template?
- Template:Invalidtitle is a "stealth" template. It does not insert visible characters in a page but can be detected with Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Invalidtitle.
- Many templates with the visible text "You can help ..." relate to issues which can by solved by everybody.
- "Invalid titles" are detected over and over again. It maight be that these titles have been created with earlier versions of the MediaWiki software. Often there is no time to fix such a title (or a serie of titles as detected now at Category:Cities and towns in the Czech Republic), to search for titles related to this subject (as Special:Whatlinkshere/Czech Republic, Special:Whatlinkshere/Czech language, Special:Whatlinkshere/Czech literature, Special:Whatlinkshere/Czechs, Special:Whatlinkshere/List of Czechs ...) to inform the "creator", to ask help from a bot to search the namespace(s) etc.
[edit] What should be fixed?
- Beside moving the page to a "valid title" with all necessary actions
- changing all (internal) links to such pages
- changing all interlanguage links to such pages
- changing all interproject (WikiMedia and others) links to such pages (commons:, wikisource:, q: etc. wikitravel))
- other actions could be required.
- Insert the Template:Wrongtitle template.

[edit] How to deal with this?
- Users interested in "fixing" a serie of items should list themself below together with the subject they are working on.
