Invensys Rail Systems

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Invensys Rail Systems is a global player in the rail automation, signalling and control industry and is part of Invensys. It is headquartered in Chippenham (Wiltshire, UK) and has over 2750 employees in 14 major locations worldwide. Invensys Rail Systems operates through four internationally known companies: Dimetronic Signals (Spain and Portugal); Safetran Systems including Burco Services (USA and Canada); Westinghouse Rail Systems (UK); and Invensys Rail Systems Australia incorporating Westinghouse Signals Australia and Foxboro Transportation, now known collectively as WRSA (Westinghouse Rail Systems Australia).

Westinghouse Rail Systems Ltd (WRSL) (UK) was previously known as Westinghouse Signals Ltd and before that was part of Westinghouse Brake and Signal Company, founded by George Westinghouse.

Westinghouse Brakes, not part of Invensys, have since left the Chippenham site to set up in the nearby town of Melksham.

Invensys Rail Systems has started a blog on safety and technology in the international rail industry called Tracking developments in rail systems [1].
