A zenner barrier is a protection device, which reduces the current in a line/wire to a specified voltage sending the excess to earth. This reduces the energy content to a level that in fault conditions the energy released is insufficient to create a spark thus being safe to use in a hazardous area i.e. a gaseous atmosphere as it cannot ignite anything. does anyone know any more than this? if so please help me out as i need it for some course work thanks.
