I simplified the introduction, hope no one minds. I also added that electricity is traded (both in baseload and peakload amounts). I am thinking of adding a section on the way that the existence of carbon credits and electricity futures allows companies to manage energy supply and base future prices (since an increase in the price of a carbon future will make cheaper to use other sources of energy, thus possibly pushing up the price of natural gas, etc.). The International Petroleum Exchange was taken over by IntercontinentalExchange in June 2001, and changed its name to ICE Futures some time afterwards. Shouldn't this page be moved to IntercontinentalExchange? Hne123 11:38, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
