Interstitial cells can refer to different structures in males and females:

  • In men, also known as "Leydig cells", are cells present in the male testes.
  • In females, interstitial cells are a portion of the stroma of ovary.
  • In both men and women, interstitial cells are a type of cell in the pineal gland.
